Electrical Engineer
Location: Norfolk, VA
Overview:
Seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to provide design review, field evaluation, and quality assurance services in support of facility development projects. This role includes both new construction and renovation projects across a variety of facility types, supporting engineering and commissioning tasks within a high-demand infrastructure environment.
Responsibilities:

Review and evaluate electrical design submittals for code compliance and technical accuracy; ensure that review comments are addressed and integrated into final designs.

Conduct site assessments to define electrical system requirements prior to project design.

Provide quality assurance support during construction, including code-mandated special inspections and field observations.

Participate in equipment acceptance testing, offering troubleshooting support and technical recommendations during facility commissioning.

Prepare written reports detailing findings, assessments, and recommendations; present technical studies and proposed designs orally when required.

Utilize software tools including AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Office, and electrical analysis programs to support design and documentation tasks.

Maintain compliance with all safety policies and proper use of personal protective equipment.

Typical project types include administrative, industrial, research, recreational, medical, security, airfield, waterfront, and residential facilities.
Required Qualifications:

U.S. Citizenship.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in code-compliant electrical design for new and renovated facilities.

Proficient in the application of electrical engineering codes and standards, including NFPA 70 (NEC), IEEE C2 (NESC), and the International Building Code.

Familiarity with regulations at local, state, federal, and international levels as they apply to electrical engineering design.

Experience in interior/exterior lighting, facility power distribution (including backup generation), telecommunications, CCTV and security systems, grounding and lightning protection, AV systems, medical systems, instrumentation and controls, and medium-voltage site distribution.

Proficient with design software (AutoCAD and/or Revit), Microsoft Office tools, and other government-standard applications.

Capable of coordinating multidisciplinary teams and supporting budgeting, planning, and project management efforts.
Work Conditions:

On-site, standard 8-hour shifts (Monday–Friday).

Ability to remain stationary for extended periods (60%+ of the time).

Light lifting capability (under 10 lbs).

Regular use of standard office equipment.
